SUPERMARKET chain Lidl will hold a public consultation day to outline plans for its new Dumbarton store.

In June, The Reporter revealed Lidl's proposals to bring 40 new jobs to the area by building a new £6m store on Castle Street at the former Allied Distillers site.

The public consultation will take place between 12.30pm and 7.30pm on Tuesday August 23 in Riverside Parish Church Hall.

Lidl say a dedicated property team will attend to outline plans and answer any questions from the local community.

The 1,407msq store will boast state of the art facilities including a bakery, five tills, over 150 parking spaces.

The company hopes to submit a planning application in October and any feedback on the plans can be left at www.dumbarton.lidl.co.uk

Lidl UK’s head of property for Scotland, Gordon Rafferty, said: “We are extremely excited about the prospect of opening a Lidl in Dumbarton and serving our fresh, quality and incredibly good value produce which shoppers across the country have come to love.

"We look forward to welcoming anyone along to the public consultation day and showcasing our plans whilst answering any questions.”

The planned store in Dumbarton will add to Lidl’s existing store portfolio of 630, and form part of plans to own 1,200 store in the future.
