DETECTIVES are investigating an indecent assault in the Vale after a woman was grabbed from behind while she was out walking her dog.

Police say the 49-year-old victim has been left with both mental and physical injuries following the "traumatic" attack.

Officers are continuing their enquiries after the woman was attacked just after midnight this morning (Tuesday, August 16).

The woman was walking her dog along a path adjacent to the River Leven in Alexandria near to the junction with Suzanna Street and Munro Street when a man grabbed her from behind, pushed her to the ground and indecently assaulted her.

The man then ran off leaving the woman injured on the ground.

She was taken by ambulance to the Royal Alexandra Hospital in Paisley and treated for minor injuries before being released.

Detective Inspector Scott Hamilton, at Clydebank CID, said: “This was a very traumatic experience for the woman which has left her with both mental and physical injuries.

“Our enquiries have revealed that there were a group of teenagers, both male and female nearby who may have witnessed the attack or may have seen the suspect hanging about the area either before or after it took place.

“This pathway is used by many dog walkers and I appeal to any of them who has information to contact police immediately."
