A SERIAL shoplifter from Dumbarton has been admonished after staying out of trouble.

Kirsty McCurley targeted four separate shops in Dumbarton and Helensburgh over a four-month period last year.

The 37-year-old stole clothing and footwear from Peacocks on College Way before heading next door to New Look to steal items on February 1, 2022.

She went back to New Look weeks later on April 2 and stole more clothing before going to Lidl to steal a quantity of food.

Her last offence on June 29 saw her steal toiletries, alcohol and other household items from the Co-operative on Sinclair Street in Helensburgh.

We previously told how she appeared for sentencing at Dumbarton Sheriff Court in April this year where Sheriff Maxwell Hendry said he would give her a 'carrot and stick' approach to her offending.

Sentencing was deferred for good behaviour.

When she appeared at the town's court again on June 13, it was heard that she had successfully stayed out of trouble.

Sheriff Hendry told her: "What you are demonstrating is that you are perfectly capable to live within the law like every other citizen. It is a carrot-and-stick approach. If you do well then you get an admonition, but if you do badly then you don't."

McCurley, of Graham Road, was admonished for the Dumbarton offences.

She is due to be sentenced for her Helensburgh offence later this year, but she must remain on good behaviour.

The sheriff added: "If it is good behaviour then I hope that will bring your court appearances to an end."
