A CHARITY set up to eliminate sectarianism from Scotland has branded the person responsible for offensive graffiti near a primary school as a "moron."

Dave Scott at Nil by Mouth slammed the "hate crime" after residents of Old Kilpatrick awoke to find racist and sectarian graffiti painted on a wall last week.

The shocking message of hate - which read "H*** love Black ****" - was scrawled on a wall on a road bridge which takes the A814 over the train tracks.

Although the message has now been covered up, the Clydebank Post understands this was roughly 50 yards from Gavinburn Primary School and visible to kids as their parents walked them to school.

Mr Scott hit out at the wannabe "rebel" and hopes the culprit is soon in handcuffs.

He told the Post: "There are so many levels of ignorance and hatred in this incident it’s hard to know where to start.

"What’s also galling is that it’s very close to a school so children have to walk past it every day.

"The moron responsible will no doubt think they are some sort of rebel but they aren't.

"They are a nasty little bigot as what has happened here isn’t graffiti but a hate crime and whoever committed it has gone out of their way to try and antagonise and demean others.

"I hope CCTV can be utilised to catch the offender and they face the consequences of these hateful actions."

Police Scotland says they did not receive any reports about the graffiti.
