Kirktonhill Ladies brought their season to a perfect end by winning the Division 4 play-off trophy against Giffnock 3.

Having already secured the top slot in Division 4A, it was time to meet the winners of 4B to decide the overall champions of the combined divisions.

At first couple were Karen Haggarty and Trish Cameron who maintained their unbeaten run for the season with an easy win of 6-1, 6-2, 6-2.

Also making the most of home advantage were Fiona MacDonald and Marissa Gordon on court two, who won their first set easily 6-0 then came through the second 6-3.

They raced to a 6-0 win in the first set and were 4-0 up in the second before Giffnock found their rhythm and brought the score back to 4-3.

However, the Kirktonhill pair held their concentration and went on to win 6-3.

Anna Currie and Karen Goodwin on court 3 also produced a solid performance, winning their first two sets 6-3, 6-3.

With the light fading fast and the combined results showing that Kirktonhill had already won seven of the nine available sets, the players on courts two and three decided to bring their matches to an early conclusion and head indoors for tea.

The honours went to Kirktonhill but all 12 players joined together in celebrating their successful seasons with a fine bottle of champagne.

The championship trophy was presented to team captain, Karen Haggarty, by Tennis West of Scotland representative, Mike Bews.
