Alan Martin – 7

Solid as ever, comes out for every ball and instils confidence with his defenders. Several Cruyff turns to the crowd’s joy.

Craig Pettigrew – 8

Put good shift in defensively and much improved performance from last week.

Daniel Harvie – 6

Good performance, but rarely goes up to challenge for headers, lost out a number of times.

Gregor Buchanan – 6

Gave the penalty away which proved costly, wasn’t as dominant as he is usually in the air compared to normal – but that’s more down to opposition’s quality.

Darren Barr – 7

Confident in possession and brought a calmness to the defence. Slipped midway through first half which let Holt through, could have been costly.

Joe Thomson – 7

Looked much stronger as an attacking threat. The box-to-box midfielder is never afraid to have a pop at goal. Forming a strong partnership with Gallagher.

Grant Gallagher – 7

Looked comfortable in the middle of the park and dropped back in whenever a central defender was out of position.

Josh Todd – 6

Was much better when tracking back than in recent weeks.

David Smith – 7

Full of energy down the wing and lively as ever.

Ryan Stevenson – 6

Ran all day. Got plenty of stick from his former rivals but held the ball up well on a number of occasions. Set pieces not quite up to his usual high standard.

Robert Thomson – 6

Didn’t have much joy against the Hibs centre-backs

Substitutes

Garry Fleming – 5 Brought energy on and looked to throw himself about when he could.

Mark Docherty – 4

Had little time to influence the game.

Donald McCallum – 4

Had little time to make an impact.

Manager

Stevie Aitken – 7 The starting formation worked well to contain Hibs’ diamond system, limiting their goal threat. Looked to change things towards the end and made attacking subs. Competed well against the team most likely to go up – big test next week against a below-par St Mirren.

Super Sons

The Reporter’s Super Sons competition is well under way, with some more standout performances this week.
The Reporter will be rating the performance of the Dumbarton team for each match this season.
First place will receive 15 points, second place 10 points and third place five points.
The player with the most points at the end of the season will be anointed as the Super Son of the 2016-17 season.
As well as the points awarded after every game, Dumbarton supporters will also have the chance to influence the winner of the top prize.
After each quarter of the season we will ask you who has been your Super Son from that round of fixtures from a shortlist.
The winner of the fans’ vote will get an extra 15 points to their overall total.
Find the ratings and standings each week in The Reporter newspaper.

Craig Pettigrew – 15 points: The right-back has been a solid performer under Aitken, and dealt with the Hibs attacking threat well on Saturday.

Alan Martin – 10 points: The keeper continues his strong form with another appearance in the top three. Will be crucial for the Sons this season.

Darren Barr – 5 points: His first league start back and he looked confident in possession and dealt with balls over the top well.
